Where Do We Go from Here? Operating Instructions for the Human Ant

I am the human ant. At the end of the journey, a short account remains: structure holds form, movement changes state, and regulation fits the two together so action can happen again.

Water represents available capacity; salt represents structure that has taken form. There is no good salt and bad salt, and no separate type of salt for every policy; quantity, location, role, and relation to water determine which structure is held and what it costs.

The balances are continuous; the endpoint test is binary: the possibility of renewing regulation and acting again remains—1; structure, movement, or regulation has fallen to zero with no possibility of renewal—0. Boundary thickness, where it is used, is the signature of the balance and recurring actions—not the policy itself.
